What is a Pap Smear?
A Pap smear (also called a Pap test) is a routine screening procedure used to detect abnormal cells in the cervix — cells that could potentially develop into cervical cancer if left untreated.
When detected early, abnormal cell changes are highly treatable. Regular Pap smear screening is one of the most effective ways women can protect their long-term health.
Who Should Get a Pap Smear?
Pap smear screening is recommended for all women, regardless of whether they have symptoms or not.
Women Aged 25 – 65
All women in this age group are advised to get a Pap smear every 3 years, even if they feel completely healthy.
Sexually Active Women
Women who are or have been sexually active should have regular Pap smear screening regardless of age.
Post-Hysterectomy
Some women who have had a hysterectomy may still need Pap smears. Consult our doctor for personalised advice.

Preparation
You will be given a gown and asked to undress from the waist down in a private room.
The Procedure
A speculum is gently inserted and a small brush collects a cell sample from the cervix. Mild discomfort may be felt.
Sample Sent
The sample is sent to a certified laboratory for analysis.
Results
Results are ready within 1–2 weeks. Our doctor will contact you and explain the findings.
